Comments: Blog Software Smackdown
I'm wondering why Expression Engine doesn't get mentioned in these reviews. I've used Movable Type, and Word Press and I don't think either hold anything over Expression Engine. In fact, I find Expression Engine to be very flexible, and easy to use. Of all the interfaces, I think it's the easiest to understand, and it comes with an impressive array of standard templates to get you started. I think Expression Engine is characterized as a "content management system", rather than a mere blogging platform, which may be why it escapes review when people start talking about blogging software. I note one other well known content management system falls into that category, and that's "Slash-Dot". This program is for the true professional, "geek", content person, because while it's powerful, you need a degree in rocket science to use it. Expression Engine has the functionality of Slash-Dot, with the ease of use of the average blogging package. If you're in the market for a blogging software, don't forget to look at Expression Engine. Posted by Glenn Garnes at February 3, 2006 05:57 AMThanks for pointing out the interesting blogware article. I favor WordPress, and was a bit disappointed that the author didn't pick up that there is a hosted version: If it's good enough for Robert Scoble, it's probably enough for just about everyone else. In addition, the author perhaps wasn't aware that WordPress has partnered with Yahoo to offer an easy way to deploy with one-click: http://sbs.smallbusiness.yahoo.com/webhosting/problogs.php Keep up the good work...
